How to read these prices

The usual price is the one each phones product displayed most often over six months, outliers excluded. The deal score compares today’s price with that usual price: a discount only counts if it is real, not relative to a list price. Read the full methodology and glossary →

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to buy a smartphone?

Smartphone prices drop mostly two to four months after launch, then again when the next model arrives (September for iPhones, early in the year for Galaxy S). Black Friday and French Days bring real discounts on last year’s models, rarely on the newest ones.

How do I know if a phone discount is real?

Compare today’s price with the model’s usual price over six months, not with the strike-through price. DeaLynx computes that usual price for every product and only shows a discount when today’s price is genuinely below it.

Should I wait for a new release before buying?

If the model you want is more than a year old, yes: its successor usually pushes its price down by 10 to 20% within a few weeks. A DeaLynx alert tells you as soon as the drop is recorded.
